Have you ever heard about forensic examination or autopsy using rusted knifes and hammers? In Indian hospitals, forensic surgeons rarely comes for medical examination of corpse. A postmortem is necessary to determine the cause of death and considered as a valuable document in legal disputes. However, autopsies in Indian hospitals are mostly carried out by unskilled employees.
These are some of the most disturbing lasting images of the terrible life and death in India. They may be tasteless as well as offensive but the logic in posting them makes some sense. These dead bodies are left on the open floor while rats and dogs eat body parts.
If the reporters and news agencies of India would reveal such stories at all costs, India should have been a better place to live. Knowledge is indeed power, and free speech is a blogger’s basic right.
Recently, Swedish forensic experts have said the two autopsies carried out in India on the body of British teenager Scarlett Keeling, found dead on a beach in Goa, were “absolutely illegal”.
They also expressed concern that her organs, found missing during a third autopsy in Britain, may have been illegally traded. According to Asian Human Rights Commission’s findings, some hospitals in India still using “Sushrutha style of autopsy”. Sushrutha is the Indian father of surgery, who believed to be lived during pre- historic age.
Are we still lives in the pre-historic age of Hindu dharma? Is it respectful to leave a corpse on an open floor as a food to Indian gods like rats? Is it respectful to allow the body to decompose naturally in humid conditions? Only India’s super rich and Brahmins are allowed to cremate with honour? These are people who were once alive, had relationships, suffered, bore children. What does it mean to respect a dead body in India?
In India, dead bodies of Dalits and poor are to be left on the ground, eaten by bugs, and it is merely an organic stuff to be examined by Brahmins and upper caste students for their higher studies.
