Portuguese PM resigns amid Financial collapse

Portugal plummeted into fresh crisis Thursday after the prime minister quit following a showdown with parliament over his new austerity plan, increasing the likelihood Lisbon will seek a financial bailout. PM Jose Socrates tendered his resignation late Wednesday, saying he could not govern without support after all five opposition parties voted against his minority government's latest spending cuts and tax hikes. The austerity plan - the government's fourth in a year - was aimed at avoiding the need for an EU-IMF bailout to help Lisbon meet debt repayment obligations, a package similar to those granted fellow eurozone members Greece and Ireland last year. "This crisis will have very serious consequences in terms of the confidence Portugal needs to enjoy with institutions and financial markets", Socrates said after presenting his resignation to President Anibal Cavaco Silva.

Portuguese PM Jose Socrates
The events in Portugal threaten to derail a two-day European Union summit that gets underway Thursday in Brussels that had been expected to finalise the bloc's response to a year-long eurozone debt crisis. German Zionist pro IMF Chancellor Angela Merkel said Thursday she regretted that parliament had rejected Socrates' austerity plan, describing it as "correct and courageous". "Now what?" said the headline on the front page of business daily Diario Economico, summing up the national mood. The Portuguese president will hold meetings with all political parties on Friday and the government would retain full powers at least until then, the president's office said in a statement. That leaves Socrates, in office since 2005, and his Socialist government in place with full powers for the duration of the EU summit although as an outgoing leader his authority is severely damaged. The president can now invite parties with representation in parliament to form a coalition government or, in the more likely scenario, he can dissolve parliament and call snap elections.

International Economic Collapse initiated

Read on Pakistan Cyber Force Facebook Page

Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seat belts. Not very long ago from now, in April 2010, before Waddell & Reed, Inc. sold a few shares of ES effectively destroying the market, world's top most economists made the following observation:

“The IMF has just announced that it is expanding its New Arrangement to Borrow (NAB) multilateral facility from its existing $50 billion by a whopping $500 billion (SDR333.5 billion), to $550 billion.”

Little did anyone know that their conclusion “something big must be coming” would prove spot on just a month later after Greece, then Ireland, then Portgual, and soon Spain, Italy, Belgium, and pretty much all other European countries would topple like dominoes tethered together by a flawed monetary regime. Based on news from Dow Jones we can now safely predict the following: “something bigger must be coming.” As if the IMF’s trillions in open lending facilities (many of which have recently been adjusted to uncapped) were not enough, we now learn that the world lender of last resort (which in theory is the Fed, but apparently Bernanke has been getting a little shy lately so is offsetting his direct lending directives to secondary organizations like the IMF, leaving the Fed with only USZ Dollar liquidity swaps) is about to activate a “Special Funding Pool” – Dow Jones explains:

“The International Monetary Fund is expected to soon activate a special funding pool that will boost the fund’s ability to prevent or resolve economic crises, two people familiar with the situation said Thursday. One of the people said the activation of the funding–which can only be made by a special request from the IMF managing director to the board–was in anticipation of an expected wave of new IMF programs, including the possible expansion of the Greek bailout package.

Activating access to the funding pool could provide assurance to the market of the IMF’s ability to backstop any major funding crisis amid ongoing fears that Europe’s sovereign debt woes will worsen. The IMF board recently approved a boost to the so-called New Arrangements To Borrow, bringing the special pool of funding to around $580 billion, adding several hundred billion dollars to the total amount the fund has to tap. According to the IMF, the pool of supplementary resources are only to be activated when “needed to forestall or cope with a threat to the international monetary system.” Although no request has been made, markets, analysts and economists say rejection by the Portuguese parliament Wednesday of a belt-tightening budget all but sealed the likelihood Lisbon will request aid from the IMF and the European Union.

Unfortunately, the bottom line is very frightening and very clear: there is a new threat to the international monetary system which means Europe May 2010 redux is imminent. Our sincere condolences to the USZ tax payers.

{EOP} ISI defeated CIA On Raymond Davis Issue..

ISI-CIA cooperated with each other throughout the war against Soviet forces in Afghanistan in 1980s. The latter never felt offended on being kept in the backseat concerning planning; coordination, training, equipping and launching of Mujahideen were concerned. The USZ provided intelligence, funds, arms and fighters from other Muslim countries only. The ISI was eulogised and given due credit for the successful conclusion of the war. Its stature grew so high that it was seen as the most potent and effective spy machine in the region and second to none. After 1990, when the USZ hastily abandoned Pakistan and consequently Pak-USZ relations got strained, ISI also came in bad books of the USZ and ignited CIA-ISI cold war. During the two short tenures of PPP, an effort was made to shorten the long arm of the ISI. After 9/11, when America in concert with Israel, India, UK, Germany and Afghanistan went about pursuing its agenda it had fixed for Pakistan with the help of intelligence agencies, it found Pak Army and ISI as major bottlenecks in its way to reach up to coveted nukes. CIA took full control of intelligence acquisition and dissemination and kept ISI on the sidelines so as to be able to gain control over selected regions of FATA and Balochistan.

Anti-state elements were cultivated to destabilize these regions. Two pronged propaganda war was launched against Pakistan and its premier institutions by India and Afghanistan duly backed by USZA and western countries. All terrorist attacks taking place in the two countries were pasted on ISI. It included terrorist attack on Indian parliament in December 2002, Samjhota Express train blast in 2006, suicide attack on Indian Embassy in Kabul in July 2008 and several others in India. CIA started targeting ISI from end 2007 onwards when the latter learnt about double game being played by former and started to recover lost ground. Apart from unleashing vicious vilification campaign, the USZ tried hard to cut ISI to size by placing it under Ministry of Interior headed by its own man and also getting it purged of anti-USZ officers under the plea that they were sympathisers of Taliban. Wild allegations were made that the ISI was linked with Afghan Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Muhammad. It was accused of playing a double game. When the ISI didn’t budge and continued to shield national interests, RAW, Mosad and CIA jointly engineered Mumbai attacks in November 2008 with the sole aim of netting ISI. Case was gradually built up to get it declared as a rogue outfit. The USZ tilted towards India and blackmailed Pakistan. Latter was pressured to accept all demands of India. The USZ played a key role in getting passed a resolution by UNSC to put Jamat-ud-Dawa and its four leaders on list of terrorists.

When no headway could be made, several group attacks were launched against ISI set ups in various cities. In November 2010, the USZ Federal Court issued summon to DGISI Lt Gen Pasha and senior members of LeT for the alleged involvement in Mumbai carnage. In response to a complaint lodged by one Kareem Khan from North Waziristan that his son and brother had been killed by a drone on 31 December 2009, when on 16 December Islamabad Police moved to register murder case against CIA station chief in Pakistan Jonathan Banks, who was supervising drone campaign, Jonathan fled to USZA. The USZ media suspected ISI involvement in blowing up CIA cover in retaliation to USZ court move. ISI-CIA relations hit rock bottom once CIA agent Raymond Davis was arrested in Lahore on 27 January after he shot down two motorcyclists in Lahore. His arrest blew the lid off the covert CIA operation in Pakistan. Realising the gravity of the situation, the USZ applied its crude methods of coercion and also played the diplomatic immunity card to secure Davis’s release without any investigation and trial. Obama, Mullen, Munter and CIA chief Panetta tried both threats and persuasion to get him released but failed. Arrest of another USZ national Aaron Mark de Haven in Peshawar pretending to be security contractor gave a glimpse of the scale of USZ spy network in Pakistan. Despite extreme pressure Punjab government and Lahore court stood their ground asserting that process of law will not be allowed to be subverted. It was dishonest on part of Obama and USZ officials to lie blatantly that Davis was a diplomat knowing that he was not. Their mantra of full diplomatic immunity was sheer deceitfulness. They resorted to lies since the USZ has mostly been getting away with their ruses, deceit and falsehood. None bothered to clarify as to why a diplomat was carrying Glock and Bretta pistols, loads of ammunition, hand grenade and other spy gadgets.

Sudden release of Davis on 16 March came as a rude shock for the people of Pakistan. His release has renewed the waning confidence of spies and under cover agents of CIA to continue with their dirty work. They will however now be a bit more careful never to get caught. CIA would be busy devising schemes how to prevent such a recurrence which had caught the most powerful agency with pants down. Task of ISI to identify foreign spies will now become more tedious since it will be chasing alerted agents. Pakistan will never ever get another chance wherein the USZ was put on the defensive and had no clue how to get Davis released after their salvo of diplomatic immunity misfired. Davis was at the breaking point and sooner than later would have divulged all the nitty- gritty details about CIA-Mosad-RAW network in Pakistan, its linkages with local quislings, NGOs and terrorist groups, and Blackwater racket, and how close the CIA was in stealing or disabling our nukes. Our rulers have once again kneeled down under pressure and sold national interests too cheaply. For the people it is an irreparable loss for Pakistan and amounts to compromising our national honour and dignity. They feel cheated and let down since they were not taken into confidence when striking a secret deal with USZA. For the rulers, it is a win-win situation. They argue that Pak-USZ relations at state, military and intelligence levels at the brink of break up have sailed past the rough patch; USZ aid and IMF loan flow would resume; USZ-Pak-Afghan summit would take place, Pak-USZ strategic dialogue would restart. In their view, decision taken by Session Court was strictly in conformity with Sharia law; all the heirs of deceased Fahim and Faizan have willingly accepted blood money and forgiven the accused; families of victims have been richly compensated and amount dished out to each one is beyond their wildest expectations.

The government is taking pride in tackling a very complex case smoothly since custody of Davis was like handling a ticking live bomb. Rulers say that all this was made possible because of intimate cooperation and coordination of the Federal government, Punjab government, Army chief, DGISI and law courts in Lahore. This kind of harmony between state organs is a rare phenomenon in ongoing restive environment. However, the ruling regime known for its indecisiveness and for underhand deals to please USZA or extract commissions was this time caught between the devil and the deep sea. On one side was incensed USZA twisting its arms and on the other side were overcharged public and hyper media together with cries of the victims’ families who wanted Davis to be hanged. Publication of revealing stories about presence of hundreds of Davis type CIA and Blackwater agents had given rise to fears and had triggered heated debate. Finding itself in a logjam, the leadership maintained an ambivalent posture by neither confirming nor denying whether Davis enjoyed diplomatic immunity. While Gilani desiring to oblige the USZ reluctantly affirmed that legal mechanism would be allowed to prevail, Government machinery on the quiet kept working on the option of blood money.

Leaving aside sentiments and emotions for a while and opening the window of reason, logic and rationality, one will have to accept that the case was handled deftly. Keeping Davis in an isolated room in secluded Kot Lakhpat Jail for seven weeks in the face of extreme pressure, putting him on ECL, charge-sheeting him on double-murder and possession of illegal arms and ammunition, and not bending to USZ demand of releasing Davis forthwith on the basis of diplomatic immunity was not easy given the poor track record of our rulers. Till John Kerry’s visit, the attitude of all American officials was conceited and threatening. Each one indulged in tongue lashing on basis of diplomatic immunity. When no headway could be made, Kerry was dispatched to play a soothing tune of conciliation and bring back Davis. He put up a soft face and dangled carrot as well as stick but seeing the ugly mood of the public he considered it prudent to return back empty handed. He passed on the idea of blood money as taught to him by Hussein Haqqani, which sounded appealing to many. The USZ leadership was contemplating punishing Pakistan for causing discomfiture to one of its citizens. The entire top brass of USZA as well as CIA frothing at the mouths and fuming with anger had to change their demeanour of haughtiness to conciliation and appeasement. Realising the complexity of legal course, it kept the option of payment of Diyat uppermost. It was ironic that the USZ had to ultimately seek relief for their man from Islamic law which it reviles from the bottom of its heart. Notwithstanding habitual arrogance of USZ leaders towards compliant leaders of third world, release of Davis may help in making them more compassionate and understanding towards the Muslim countries.

Gen Kayani expressed his serious concern to senior military leadership of USZA at Oman. He forthrightly asked them that instead of seeking Davis release they should clarify whether his anti-Pakistan activities were justified and whether USZA or Pakistan is playing a double game. CIA which was behaving like a rampaging bull in a chinaware shop has for the first time started to listen to ISI’s security concerns expressed by Lt Gen Pasha and has agreed to bridle its agents let loose in Pakistan and curtail its shady activities. Panetta has ceded to ISI’s request of furnishing full details of all under cover agents working in various guises and has reportedly repatriated over 35 of its operatives. This exercise is equally important for USZA to ensure security of its citizens working in Pakistan in the backdrop of raised tempers of the public. While it will be naïve to expect the CIA to transform itself from a devil into a saint, it is fair to assume that in future its covert operations will be undertaken with due care and caution and it may show greater sensitivity to Pakistan’s concerns. We on our part should tone down our expectations and lessen our economic dependence on USZA to hope for mutually sustaining relationship.

Davis was not released on orders of Zardari but through a legal procedure in which no graft or commission was involved. It was not possible to obtain willingness and written affidavits of all the 19 members of the affected families if pressure had been applied, particularly when each member was quizzed by the judge separately. With regard to forgiveness in return of Diyat (blood money), which is in conformity with Islamic principles, President Zardari and Army chief played a key role in getting the amount raised to Rs two hundred million, plus green cards and jobs in USZA for the heirs of the deceased. Share for Shumaila’s family who had committed suicide has also been catered for, and so is the case for Ubaidur Rehman’s family. The amount has either been paid by the family of Davis, or CIA or Saudi government but certainly not by our government. Had due course of law been allowed to be completed, it would have taken a very long time and there were dim chances of Davis getting convicted. The case getting transferred to International Court of Justice was a distinct possibility in which case the decision in all probability would have gone in favour of Davis. While Davis would have suffered the pangs of prolonged confinement, but his suffering would have been at the cost of disruption of Pak-USZ relations, impositions of harsh sanctions and stoppage of loan facilities from world institutions, thus adding to the miseries of the people already groaning under weight of poverty.

It is a matter of satisfaction to note that for the first time such a large amount has been wholly received by the members of deprived class and rulers have not asked for their share. From among over 35000 Pakistanis who have lost their lives at the hands of faceless terrorists and hundreds killed by unknown target killers, these 19 members of two aggrieved families together with Ibad’s family are the only fortunate ones who have been richly compensated for the tragedy that befell upon them. I wish them good luck in all their future doings. But for the revengeful drone strikes on 17 March killing innocent people, Davis release may not have evoked such a strong backlash. Horrific incident of burning of Holy Quran in Florida by a fanatic preacher Terry Jones has deeply injured the feelings of each and every Muslim in Pakistan. This unfortunate and condemnable incident is likely to further heighten anti-Americanism and reinforce the impression that America is more intolerant and extremist than any other country.

{EOP}Grip of Afghan Taliban on Telecommunication in Helmand{Afghanistan}

Mobile phones have fallen silent in Afghanistan's southern Helmand Province on the orders of the Taliban, Telecom Engineers said, a potent reminder of Mujahideen power in an area chosen as the showcase for a transition to Afghan security. There has been no service for five days on any network in restive Helmand, where Afghan puppet police and stooge army are slated to take control of the capital, Lashkar Gah, from foreign forces in July. Massive war incidents have been reported in the region in which several hundred terrorist invaders as well as puppets have been killed and more than 150 of their tanks torn apart by Mujahideen planted IEDs. Across Afghanistan, Mujahideen have destroyed network towers of invader sponsored companies that refused to shut them down when ordered, because foreign forces used the signals to monitor Mujahideen. Night-time blackouts have become a fact of life for Afghans in more insecure areas, but a total stoppage is unprecedented. "The Taliban threaten us to shut down the network and call us a spy station, on the other hand the government harasses our workers when we listen to the Mujahideen", said engineer Ahmad Shah, head of mobile phone firm AWCC in the south.

Mujahideen of Khurasaan

"We are in a situation to listen to the Taliban rather than the government because there is no protection." The Taliban have already destroyed two of AWCC's network towers in Gereshk district, causing losses running into hundreds of thousands of dollars,Shah added. Mobile phones are vital to communication in a country where most infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged in over 30 years of conflict. There are virtually no land lines in much of the country, so stopping mobile signals hits communication hard. Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi confirmed the shutdown, saying it was to prevent night raids by foreign troops and would benefit the people of Helmand. "The leadership has decided to ban all telephone networks and this move is better for all residents of Helmand", he told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location. "Their spies provide information by cell phones which lead to civilian deaths", he added. He said only the Taliban leadership could decide to lift the ban. Helmand officials could not be reached for comment on the blackout because their contact numbers are all mobile phones. Afghan public has appreciated this step since Helmand has been sustaining multiple night raids on civilians at the hands of terrorist invader forces for a long time now. This is perhaps the first step towards decisive annihilation of terrorist invaders and their cowardly puppets in the southern portion of Afghanistan.

{EOP}Understanding the term "REVOLUTION" (Inqilaab)

Revolution means 'change'. But the question arises 'What kind of change'. May it be the change of face, change of government OR change of minds and system. We have seen in our lives many times the change in faces and government, but they haven't brought any significant change in our life, a change that can direct our life towards the real destiny i.e obedience of Allah and Ishq-e-Rasool(s.a.w.w).

There can be two reasons, either there is something wrong in the system or the faces that run the system, the faces keep on changing but the system is intact , it clearly shows that the system is wrong! So change would actually mean 'the change in system' and to change the system, we need to change our minds. take it out from the slavery of Democracy or Dictatorship, Capitalism or Communism, and think independently now. Change does not mean that you come out on the streets and start chanting slogans,Change is brought within, a fire is ignited within!! But people would ask 'What steps should we take to change the system?' Many Revolutionaries have passed by in the past and the only things we should do is to follow their footsteps.

One of the greatest revolutionaries was Malcolm X, the man who brought revolution in himself, the man who found the truth in Islam. According to Malcolm X , if in revolution, you have to violate the rules and regulations, you are still on the right path, he says: "I don't even call it violence when it's in self defense; I call it intelligence."

Nowadays many political parties are talking about Change and trying to get the credit of the coming change, but Malcolm X replies them with great expertise.

"The people who are involved in a revolution don't become a part of the system—they destroy the system, they change the system. A revolution changes the system, it destroys the system and replaces it with a better one."

The greatest revolution was brought by a great leader, i.e the revolution of Makkah and Madina was brought by the greatest human on earth, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W). Now, lets come to pioneer revolutionaries of the Muslim World. In Islamic world , most of the revolution have been brought through the poetry of great sufis and saints. They converted millions of people to Islam through their heart-touching poetry, the poetry that changed their lives, changed their minds, changed their spirit, changed their obedience and gifted them with Ishq-e-Rasool(s.a.w.w) that changed their destiny and changed the direction of their destiny. The first Islamic and Spiritual revolution was brought by our Great Prophet(S.A.W.W) in the most backward and illiterate Arabs, who thought killing their daughters was honour, degrading their women was honour , fighting without purpose was honour.

Revolution has a great power and strength. It can compel a group of weapon-less and armor-less 313 to fight against gully weaponed and armored 1000. It can compel one-third population of sub-continent to carve out a separate homeland for themselves in impossible situation. The greatest Revolutionist of 20th and 21st century is our Great Poet BABA IQBAL(R.A), IQBAL with his vision and wisdom Vigoured the minds of the Muslims, He showed them their reality. The muslims realized their great strength. IQBAL inspired them with his poetry about their ancestors. The entire doctrine of IQBAL. The entire vision, wisdom, message and mission of IQBAL is to know yourself who you are.To Realize what destiny awaits you. IQBAL spreads hope by telling the Muslims, that in the coming days, a fascinating destiny has been written on the pages of fate, Just go and grab it.

IQBAL for the first time gave the concept of Khudi:
اے غافل افغان! اپنی خودی پہچان
O lost Afghan, Identify your “self” !

BABA IQBAL clearly says in his poetry, the the only system acceptable in front of Allah is Khilafat:
عقل ہے سپر تیری، عشق ہے شمشیر تیری
میرے درویش! خلافت ہے جہانگیر تیری

Similarly BABA IQBAL predicts the re-establishment of the KHILAFAT by saying:
اگر عثمانیوں پر کوہ غم ٹوٹا تو کیا غم ہے
کہ خون صد ہزار انجم سے ہوتی ہے سہر پیدا

BABA IQBAL brought the revolution in the making of Pakistan, He brought the revolution in Iran in1979,brought the revolution in Tajikistan in 1992, and now with the grace of Allah BABA IQBAL is bringing the revolution in Pakistan, only those can see who have eyes.

وقت فرصت ہے کہاں، کام ابہی باقی ہے
نور توحید کا اتمام ابہی باقی ہے
"There is no time to spare, work hard for the implementation of khilafah"

BABA IQBAL, In his poetry has clearly said the after the making of Pakistan , our responsibility is not finished , but we have to take it to its destiny, which our great ancestors achieved. Pakistan is an unfinished revolution, the half of it was making on the basis of La Ilaha Ilallah, the remaining half of it is to finish this revolution on the basis of Muhammadur RasoolAllah (s,a.w.w). Be a part of it or you will be extremely unlucky.

{EOP}US Agrees to Recall 331 ‘Diplomatic Staffers’ {CIA vs ISI}

LAHORE: According to a deal reached between relevant officials of Pakistan and the US in exchange for the release of US national Raymond Davis, as many as 331 US officials, most of whom are suspected of being engaged in espionage under diplomatic cover, have been identified to leave the country.
Pakistani authorities, The Express Tribune learnt, have agreed that these US officials would not be declared ‘persona non grata’ if they left the country voluntarily within a stipulated time.
Previously, Pakistan was almost ready to summarily expel these persons, who have various levels of diplomatic immunity, as most of them were issued Pakistani visas without getting prior No-Objection Certificates (NOC) following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), sources familiar with the matter revealed.
According to the Standard Operating Procedures, all embassy and consulate staff  working under different diplomatic covers like contractors, consultants, technicians and administrative staff were required to be vetted by relevant officials before issuing them visas.
Pakistani officials while handing over a list to the US officials had demanded that these US officials should be recalled immediately.
When Pakistan was assured that they will leave the country within the stipulated period, it extended assurances that these US officials will not be declared persona non grata.
This was one of the salient features of the secret deal which is also said to include a substantial increase in aid, weapons and mandatory scrutiny of all persons seeking diplomatic immunity.
Intelligence officials said that Pakistani authorities had been trying to “trap someone to expose the cover of these consultants and technicians in front of the world community and Pakistani people”.
With the help of this achievement, Pakistan has successfully neutralised operatives of ‘friends’ (allies in the war in terrorism) involved in anti-state activities against our sovereignty.
The Express Tribune learnt that Pakistan has devised “an adequate response policy to counter the severity of our friends’ reaction”.
An official, who is privy to these developments, said that most of the suspected persons on the list were “involved in suspicious activities, including photographing and filming of sensitive installations like air bases (Warsak, near Peshawar and Multan), defence bunkers along the Pakistan-India border near Lahore, recruiting persons supporting their activities and launching local people for suspicious activities by offering lucrative benefits”.
Sources familiar with the issue said that Raymond Davis case had firmly established the veracity of some Pakistani authorities’ insistence on stopping “out-of-context additions” of diplomatic immunity in Pakistan.

{EOP}Expected Hindu Saffron Terror on Semi Final {Pak VS India}

Hindu Terror outfits to disrupt Pakistan Semi Final should India fail to qualify. Significant threat of terror attacks targetting Pakistan cricketers and citizens travelling to India to attend games.

Pakistan team management is set to be briefed by Pakistani intelligence officials on the increased terror and disruption threats from Hindu extremist groups based in India, in the wake of Pakistan’s qualification to the Cricket WorldCup Semi Final scheduled to be played in Mohali, India.
Pakistan qualified for the Semi Final after comprehensively beating the West Indies on Wednesday and will be joined in Mohali next Wednesday by the winner of Thursday’s Quarter Final match between India and Australia in Ahmedabad, India.
Intelligence sources have specifically pointed out Abhinav Bharat, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrangdal among other Hindu extremist groups as planning to disrupt the next Wednesday’s Semi Final in Mohali should India fail to beat Australia tomorrow and qualify. Specific threats against the safety of Pakistan’s cricket team were issued earlier this month by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, warning Pakistan not to send its team to Mumbai – which is scheduled to host the final on April 2nd.
‘We have reports of VHP and Bajrangdal, among other Hindu terror outfits, planning to disrupt the Mohali game in case India does not qualify, or if it appears at any point in the match that it may lose to Pakistan – if it does qualify,’ said an intelligence official while speaking on condition of anonymity.
‘We are aware of the militant wing of Abhinav Bharat recently meeting senior Bajrangdal and VHP leaders in Gandhi Nagar. Indian media has already raised the bogey of supposed LeT (Lashkar-e-Tayba) terror threats which makes it easier for these Hindu terrorist groups to take advantage and carry out a terror attack to sabotage the final in Mumbai, incase India is booted out by Pakistan in the semifinal. The team hotels in Mohali and Mumbai (should Pakistan qualify) would also be under threat’, he added.
On Tuesday Pakistan Cricket Board officially requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ensure fool-proof security for its players if they qualify for the World Cup Semi Final and Final due to be held in India.
“Given the threats made by the Shiv Sena party warning Pakistan about playing in Mumbai and also statements made by some other extremist elements, the board just wants to be sure everything is in place if the team has to play in India,” another reliable source said. He said the PCB had contacted the ICC and asked the world body to ensure that Pakistan faced no problems playing in India.
Sources said that Pakistan foreign and interior ministries had already been in touch with their Indian counterparts to ensure proper security for the Pakistani players if they have to play in India. Following their qualification to the Semi Finals due to be held in Mohali, Pakistani diplomatic sources in India have confirmed the team will be thoroughly briefed upon landing in India on the security threats and risks involved in playing on Indian soil. Plans to swiftly evacuate the team from the Stadium and from the team hotel in event of trouble are also being drawn up.
Investigations in India recently have unearthed Hindu extremist groups’ involvement in a large number of terror attacks in India over the last few years, including the Ajmer Dargah blast, Malegaon blasts, Mecca Masjid blast among others. In another incident over 60 Pakistani citizens were burnt alive when the Samjhauta Express train travelling to Lahore, Pakistan from Delhi was bombed by Abhinav Bharat. A number of arrests made during these investigations include serving Indian army officers who are said to have supplied the terror groups with explosives. Indian authorities and media had initially blamed Lashkar-e-Tayba for these attacks.
“The Indians have also issued visas to around 3000 Pakistanis wishing to travel to India for the World Cup semifinal and final and obviously their security is also a concern for the Pakistan government,” the source said.
India have not played Pakistan in any bilateral series since the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008. Pakistani cricketers have also not played in Indian Premier League after 2008.
“Pakistani players have not played in India since the first edition of the IPL in early 2008, so obviously the PCB wants to be sure the players are not uncomfortable going to India,” the source said.
Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi had initially said that his team would prefer to play its quarterfinal or semifinal out of India because of  the pressure involved in playing in front of Indian crowd. Afridi later retracted his statement saying that Pakistan were willing to play at any venue including India as their main emphasis was on cricket and doing well on the field.

{EOP}Jitters in India over Pakistan`s World Cup Prospects

NEW DELHI: An India-Pakistan semi-final in Mohali now looks set to be the highpoint of the current cricket World Cup but the possibility of Pakistan going on to play the finals in Mumbai is giving nightmares to the Indian security apparatus, the Indian Express said on Thursday.
“Pakistan’s successful run in the ongoing Cricket World Cup has given fresh jitters to India that now anticipates a deluge of visa applications, over and above the 5,000 already processed,” the newspaper said.
It said Pakistan’s High Commissioner Shahid Malik, who met Indian Home Secretary G. K. Pillai on Monday, apparently told him that with the possibility of Pakistan reaching the semi-finals and final of the World Cup fairly high, India must be ready to stamp close to 5,000 more visas of Pakistani fans.
With an India and Pakistan match now confirmed in Mohali for March 30, problems for the security arrangement will be determined by the outcome.
If Pakistan manage to beat India in Mohali and proceed to Mumbai for the finals, it would be their first game in the city since 1989 when they played Australia in the MRF series.
Shiv Sena factor
“But what bothers the Home Ministry and security agencies is Mumbai as venue, where memories of 26/11 terror attacks are still fresh and the terror threat from the Lashkar-e-Taiba looms large,” the Indian Express said.
The danger of the fanatical Shiv Sena creating ugly scenes and bringing the city to a halt, also could not be taken lightly, it quoted sources as saying.
“While the Home Ministry is not worried about the semi-finals in Mohali which is close to Attari-Wagah border, and arrangements can be made for fans to come through the border point at Wagah via special buses, Mumbai has posed a real challenge,” according to the Express.
“The Home Ministry in consultation with the Ministry of External Affairs has decided that the 45-day application period required would be waived off, but has dismissed the suggestion from Islamabad that fans be allowed to reach Mumbai by Samjhauta Express train via Attari border.”
A government source told the Express that there were “other easier ways of reaching Mumbai, say by flight or by the sea”.
As enough flights cannot be arranged and possibility of getting a special trainload from Attari has been ruled out, a short ship voyage from Karachi to Mumbai is being seen as a possibility, the report said.
