Chief of Air Staff visits flood Affected Areas in Sindh

Nawabshah—Acting Chief of Air Staff Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Marshal Thair Rafique Butt on Wednesday visited Nawabshah and flood affected areasof Sindh province. During his visit he handed over 17,000 kg of dry ration, and 100 tents to DCO Nawabshah for distribution among the flood affectees.


The Air Marshal also visited the relief and medical camps established by PAF and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. Talking to media he said more then 350 rain affected people have been accommodated in these camps. He said a hospital equipped with operation theater and other facilities has also been set up to ensure medical care of flood victims at the camps.

Uzbek Defence Minister meets General Kayani

Lieutenant General Berdiev Kabul Raimovich, Defence Minister of Uzbekistan called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at General Headquarters today.

The visiting dignitary remained with the COAS for some time and discussed matters of professional interest

IAF to Deploy New Radar System Near Pakistan and China Borders

After officially commissioning a state-of-the-art SU-30 fighter squadron at the Jodhpur air base, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has decided to deploy the Arudhra radar soon in most of the forward and strategic air force stations in Rajasthan and Gujarat region near the Pakistan border.


In accordance with a decision during the recently held commanders' conference at the headquarters of South Western Air Command (SWAC) in Gandhinagar, the first medium-power radar Arudhra was inducted at the Naliya air force station of Gujarat Sector in June 2011.


Consequently, to further enhance its air defense capabilities, IAF is inducting the indigenous radar at air bases in Rajasthan and Gujarat near the Pakistan border. The medium-power radar was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) with support from Israel.


According to defense officials, the radar is being inducted to strengthen air defense capabilities in the Saurashtara-Kutch region as part of IAF's radar upgrade and is an important component of the force's plan to achieve network-centric operations. The IAF has significantly improved its air defense capabilities by acquiring the Integrated Air Command and Control Systems and connecting all of its modern and legacy radars under one single grid.

Iran Russia and China Mulling to joint Missile Defense Shield

TEHRAN - Unofficial sources have announced that Iran, Russia, and China are currently holding talks on a proposal to establish a joint missile defense shield as a counterweight to a NATO defense shield, according to a recent report.


The report, which was published in the Iranian daily newspaper Kayhan on Sunday, said that the sources cited two reasons why serious consultations have been held on the initiative. 


First, all three states have come to the conclusion that U.S. officials’ assertion that their concern over the alleged missile and nuclear capabilities of Iran and North Korea is the reason for the decision to establish a NATO missile defense shield is just a pretext and the true objective of the shield is to threaten Russia and China.
