USZ diplomats spying in Switzerland

The Swiss ministry of Justice says it is investigating evidence reporting that the USZ embassy in Geneva has been conducting illegal surveillance on Swiss territory. In 2007, the USZ had requested Geneva to allow it to conduct surveillance on its buildings on Swiss territory for security reasons. The Swiss denied the request at the time "due to a lack of legal basis and bilateral accords on this domain," the Justice ministry said in a statement. However, late last year, it was revealed that USZ embassies in Norway and Denmark had been conducting similar programs.

"Swiss authorities have found, during last autumn, indications showing that such a program is ongoing at the USZ mission in Geneva," AFP quoted the ministry as saying. Switzerland demanded the immediate halt of the program and is "now proceeding with an in-depth examination of the situation in Geneva," according to the ministry. Washington has acknowledged conducting surveillance through its embassies since news of the program surfaced in Scandinavia, but has insisted the program was carried out within the laws of the host nations and was "solely aimed at protecting its missions against attacks".

Family of ex-Tunisian president escapes with 1.5 TON Gold Bars

The family of ousted Zionist Tunisian President Zine El Abidin Ben Ali has reportedly fled the country with 1.5 tons of Gold worth more than 45 million euros. Citing information received form the French secret services, the French newspaper, Le Monde, disclosed on Monday that Leila Trabelsi, the wife of the ousted president, took the gold bars out of the country before the collapse of Ben Ali's regime. Ben Ali's 23-year rule ended on Friday after weeks of street protests all over the North African country. "According to information gathered in Tunis, Leila Trabelsi, the president's wife allegedly went to the Bank of Tunisia for gold bars. The director of the bank refused. Mrs. Ben Ali called her husband, who had also initially refused, but then agreed," the newspaper said.

After receiving the gold bars, Treabelsi flew to Dubai before leaving for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, the paper said. "It seems that the wife of Ben Ali is the party who left with 1.5 tons of gold worth 45 million euros," a senior French official told the daily. Reports also confirmed that Trabelsi had been in Dubai for several days. In the past weeks, there have been massive street protests across Tunisia against what has been described as the theft of Tunisian wealth and lack of opportunities for the average citizen. Many of Ben Ali's family members have left the African country for fear of personal safety.

On Saturday, a day after Ben Ali fled to Jeddah, luxury cars were smashed and shops and homes were looted and burned in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. Ben Ali ruled Tunisia for more than two decades. His era was marred by repeated human rights violations and torture. On Sunday, acting leaders in Tunisia discussed the composition of a unity government as post-revolution unrest continues to grip the North African country.

Yemenis call on Arab leaders to resign

Storming the streets in their hundreds, Yemeni students have urged oppressive Arab leaders to resign of their own accord before facing a Tunisia-style revolution. On Sunday, around 1,000 demonstrators swarmed in front of the Tunisian embassy in Sana'a. "Leave before you are toppled," read one banner held up during the protest, which called on Arab nations to start a "revolution against their scared and deceitful leaders." The demonstrators, who were also joined by human rights activists, chanted "Liberty's Tunisia, Sana'a salutes you a thousand times," voicing support for the country, where popular revolution recently toppled 23-year-long President Zine El Abidin Ben Ali. Similar demonstrations have been held in other countries, including Egypt and Jordan.

"Peaceful and democratic change is our aim in building a new Yemen," was written across another banner. Earlier in the month, around 2,000 opposition activists demonstrated outside the parliament's compound in Sana'a outraged at potential constitutional amendments, which could, among other things, remove a limit on the president's tenure. The changes were approved by the parliament on January 1, with 165 'Yes' votes from President Ali Abdullah Saleh's ruling General People's Congress. Saleh has already been in the office for 32 years with several opposition members arguing that long-promised reforms have not taken place.

China rejects USZ call over currency appreciation

Chinese President Hu Jintao has rejected the United States of Zionism's call for strengthening its currency, calling for more talks between the two sides. "First, we should increase dialogue and contact and enhance strategic mutual trust," Hu said in a written interview with The Washington Post on Sunday. "Second, we should abandon the zero-sum Cold War mentality, view each other's development in an objective and sensible way, respect each other's choice of development path," he added. Washington has repeatedly urged Beijing to accelerate the rise of its currency yuan and to shift the focus of its economy from the outside to the inside and thus increase domestic demand and distance itself from an export-based economic growth.

Chinese President Mr. Hu Jintao

Last week, USZ Treasury Secretary, the Zionist Timothy Geithner said China prospers better in curbing inflation if it decides to let its currency appreciate. Hu said that China uses a wide range of strategies to battle inflation and including interest rate increases and "inflation can hardly be the main factor in determining the exchange rate policy." The Chinese president called the USZ-dollar-dominated international currency system a "product of the past," adding that it would be a "fairly long process" to make China's own currency an international one. Currency strategists believe that China is gradually giving up the firm grip and the control of trading in order to internationalize yuan and this strategy is essential for easing the capital control and the reform of foreign exchange.

China, however, has blamed the USZ for the trade gap and the imbalances and has called on Washington to take action to resolve its fiscal house problem to prevent the world economy from further instability. The remarks come just days ahead of the Chinese president's official visit to the United States of Zionism in which economic as well as military issues will be discussed.
